Riva degli Schiavoni is where all the masks go to be seen nowadays. Being where San Marco Square reaches the open Lagoon, and where most of everything happens, there is no surprise this is the chosen spot. I don't think it was that different in the past, judging from ancient prints and paintings, except that back then almost everybody wore a mask, unlike nowadays. |
