LE FOTO DI ROBERTO DELPIANO LE GRAFICHE DI CINZIA MODONESE
Moncalieri (TO) ITALIA - April 1980
Associazione Procultura Moncalieri
As a young advertising photographer I had
the chance of getting in touch with the Planimedia advertising agency of Luciano Bergesio. As much as a jump into the advertising world (I don't really know if it was
good or not for me, though ... I liked so much portrait ...) it gave me the possibility of putting up my first creations in this wonderful church downtown the historical town of
Moncalieri, close to Torino. The exhibit was simply split in two areas. On the left the gorgeous paintings and drawings of Cinzia Modonese, a graphic designer at the time, a
successful architect now, on the right my photo creations.
What I produced at the time were manipulated photographs, what now with the right software takes minutes in Photoshop, back then was hours of hard work in the red light of the darkroom. And also my first (only one color, black) screen prints. All done by hand, long nights spent creating, retouching, printing ...

Oh well, where but in Italy you could have such a gorgeous background for an exhibit? Images were in the POP-Art style, so really had nothing to do with the ambiance,
but nevertheless created a good contrast.

Crammed on this wall, some of my creations. The concept of multiples and duplication is starting to make its own way in my life, so too
many images for too little space ... And a "Trompe l'oeil" of the nineteen century right behind Warhol-type modern art. Interesting trivia: at the time I
had no idea of what POP Art was ... just instinctively make it happen. Weird, huh?
