Food photography always needs a food stylist on stage. Period.
But sometimes the photographer has to do without one, the reason being budget, etc.
I learned the hard way (dried celeries!) to be my own stylist. It is not the best way to do food, in the end, but very practical most of the time, and makes me feel more of an image creator, and not only a "film, light and diaphragm expert".
1.1 - Salami product line shot on location. Studio has to be created on the spot, but the advantage of having All the necessary products and labels right at hand compensates
